Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on neonatal and newborn care in the NICU and nursery
• Perform continuous assessment and monitoring of infants, responding quickly to changes
• Implement NRP and emergency protocols when needed to support newborn stabilization
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and the care team for coordinated care
• Educate and support families on infant care, feeding and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure adherence to unit policies and patient safety standards
• Participate in shift handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds to promote continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• NRP, ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience working in NICU or newborn nursery settings preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and critical newborn interventions
• Current immunizations and ability to pass required background and health screenings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with active RN status

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency with neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and emergency response
• Knowledge of thermoregulation, feeding support and common neonatal conditions
• Effective communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Basic EMR documentation skills and attention to detail
