Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and positioning to reduce risk of injury
- Accurately document care, observations, and vital signs as directed
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote well-being
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care tasks
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-first mindset
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility vaccination/health requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care skills and familiarity with ADLs
- Comfort measuring and recording vital signs
- Patient-centered communication and good listening skills
- Ability to follow care plans and document accurately
- Awareness of infection control and safety practices
- Teamwork and the ability to take direction from nursing staff
