Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality general ultrasound exams across abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular and small parts studies
- Conduct fetal anatomical surveys and trimester-specific OB imaging with accuracy and compassion
- Operate GE ultrasound systems and PACS to capture, review and archive diagnostic images
- Provide ultrasound guidance for procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis and biopsies
- Perform portable/bedside scans in ED, NICU and inpatient settings when needed
- Document exam findings thoroughly and maintain accurate patient records
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary teams to support patient care decisions
- Assist with training, mentoring or orienting staff and students as opportunities arise
Qualifications
- ARDMS board exams: combination of at least two general ARDMS boards required
- Minimum of 2 years ultrasound experience (general ultrasound practice)
- Trauma Level I experience is required
- BLS certification (basic life support) required or pending documentation
- RVT and ARDMS BR are preferred but not mandatory
- Demonstrated experience with OB/GYN, vascular, small parts and neonatal/pediatric imaging
- Comfortable performing portable exams and ultrasound-guided procedures
- Valid state licensure or ability to obtain licensure in California
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (Associate degree or certificate) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with GE ultrasound systems and PACS workflow
- Skilled in abdominal aorta, renal/bladder, hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging
- Experienced in OB/GYN imaging across 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters and fetal anatomical surveys
- Competent in vascular studies including carotid, arterial mapping and lower/upper extremity arterial and venous duplex
- Able to perform small parts exams: breast, thyroid, testicular and superficial masses
- Comfortable scanning neonates, infants, pediatrics and adults across ED and NICU settings
- Able to support ultrasound-guided procedures such as biopsies, paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate findings clearly to clinical teams
