Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Day (5x8); occasional rotating coverage including every-other-weekend; on-call availability possible (1-2 nights as needed, 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM) and weekend call 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Float to Pre-op and Phase I/II as required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre- and post-operative assessments and deliver compassionate PACU care
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythm and vital signs, recognizing and responding to dysrhythmias
• Manage IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and care for PICC lines and ports
• Provide airway assessment and care of ventilated patients, including intubation support and ABG interpretation
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and emergency medications safely
• Reconcile medications, provide discharge instructions, and coordinate follow-up care
• Assist with a wide range of surgical cases and specialty procedures, supporting patient safety and recovery
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, and rapid response teams

Qualifications

• Active RN license (per state requirements)
• Minimum 1 year PACU experience required; ICU or ED experience preferred
• Familiarity with Epic or equivalent electronic charting systems (Epic required)
• Certifications preferred: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Comfortable with floating to Pre-op and Phase I/II recovery areas
• Ability to work occasional weekends and participate in on-call rotation
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Pre- and post-operative assessment and Phase I/II PACU workflows
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• IV therapy, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Airway management, ventilator care, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and lab values
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring, including RASS
• Pain assessment and PCA pump management
• Familiarity with common surgical specialties: neuro/spine, ortho, plastics, vascular, endo/laparoscopic, and GI
