Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support mobility and safe transfers while promoting independence whenever possible
- Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing with dignity
- Monitor resident well-being and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Help create a warm, home-like environment through friendly interactions and meaningful engagement
- Document care activities accurately and follow facility policies and procedures
- Collaborate with the care team to support individualized care plans and positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required or equivalent state credential
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in assisting with ADLs
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass facility-required background checks and health screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (or state equivalent) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Basic charting and documentation skills, following facility protocols
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
