Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Type and Crossmatch testing accurately to support safe transfusion therapy
• Run complex antibody panels and antigen testing to resolve challenging immunohematology cases
• Conduct Direct Antiglobulin testing, fetal screens and cord blood workups with attention to detail
• Investigate transfusion reactions thoroughly and document findings to support patient safety
• Manage high-volume sample flow in a busy, level III trauma center laboratory while maintaining quality
• Perform Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis testing and ensure QC/QA standards are met
• Communicate clearly with clinical teams and participate in weekend/holiday rotations as required

Qualifications

• MT or MLT certification (title indicates MT/MLT) — current certification or eligibility to test
• Experience in Blood Bank procedures including Type & Crossmatch and complex antibody workups
• Hands-on experience or competency in Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis testing
• Comfort working in a very high-volume lab environment and rotating weekend/holiday coverage
• Strong attention to documentation, quality control, and adherence to lab policies and procedures
• Good communication skills for interacting with nursing and clinical staff during investigations

Education

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred
• Completion of an accredited MLT/MT program or equivalent clinical training

Knowledge & Skills

• Blood Bank operations and transfusion medicine principles
• Complex Antibody Panels and antigen testing techniques
• Direct Antiglobulin testing (DAT) and transfusion reaction investigation workflows
• Hematology and Coagulation testing methodologies
• Urinalysis procedures and interpretation
• Ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume (thousands of tests/day) environment
• Familiarity with QC/QA practices and accurate record-keeping
