Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and needs using standardized assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans that focus on independence in activities of daily living
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and adaptive strategies
- Document progress thoroughly and communicate updates with the care team and families
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs and physicians to coordinate holistic care
- Train patients and caregivers on safe techniques, assistive devices and home strategies
- Contribute to discharge planning and community reintegration goals
- Participate in facility quality initiatives and provide mentorship to support staff
Qualifications
- Active Washington state Occupational Therapist license (required)
- OTR credential or equivalent, in good standing
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Experience in inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, or acute care settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within an interdisciplinary team
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT, OTD, or equivalent entry-level degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge of splinting, adaptive equipment and mobility aids
- Comfortable using clinical documentation systems and writing clear progress notes
- Ability to develop measurable goals and track outcomes
- Strong communication skills with patients, families and clinical teams
- Problem-solving mindset and creative approach to adaptive strategies
