Shift Type: Rotating day shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (1 shift) and 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM (2 shifts); schedule includes every 3rd weekend and holidays (day shifts)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and reassess patients rapidly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced Emergency Department
- Implement and evaluate individualized nursing interventions and plans of care based on protocols and best practices
- Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy, including vasoactive drips and thrombolytic/anticoagulation therapies, with careful monitoring and documentation
- Perform triage, initial assessments, and timely clinical decision-making to ensure patient safety and appropriate resource use
- Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias and arterial blood gases, and notify physicians of critical changes
- Manage airway interventions for the intubated patient, including suctioning, troubleshooting, and weaning
- Provide clear, timely handoffs and thorough documentation to support continuity of care
- Participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and mandated reporting when applicable
- Promptly identify patient safety risks and contribute to quality improvement and error reduction efforts
- Serve as a team player, preceptor, and mentor to support colleagues and foster a learning environment
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts (required)
- AS in Nursing required; BS in Nursing preferred
- ACLS upon hire OR current BLS with commitment to obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days
- AHA PALS within six (6) months of hire
- TNCC, ENPC, and CEN highly preferred
- 3-5 years Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking, strong assessment skills, and excellent communication
Education
- AS in Nursing (required)
- BS in Nursing (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ED triage, patient assessment, and critical thinking under pressure
- Experience with IV therapy, medication administration, and medication reconciliation
- Cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
- Airway management and intubation care for ventilated patients
- Arterial blood gas interpretation and pulse oximetry assessment
- Vasoactive medication titration and management of critical drips
- Thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy protocols
- Clinical documentation and use of electronic health records
- Familiarity with VAP bundle implementation and infection prevention practices
- Ability to recognize and respond to abuse, and complete mandated reporting and forensic evidence collection
