Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer medications accurately via oral, topical, vaginal, rectal routes and by inhalation, under RN direction
- Chart all medications given, omitted, or refused in a timely and thorough manner
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, mobility, mealtimes)
- Support a safe, therapeutic environment for residents and respond to care team direction
- Communicate observations and changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with resident mobility and safe transfer techniques to promote independence and safety
- Maintain clear, professional documentation and follow facility policies and state regulations
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Maine State Board-approved CNA course (required)
- Active on the Maine CNA registry (required)
- Graduate of a Maine State-approved Certified Medication Administration program (required) — must show CNA-M coursework on your Maine CNA certification
- At least 1 year of previous CNA experience required
- Strong written, verbal and customer service skills
- Medical terminology preferred but not required
Education
- Graduate of a Maine State Board-approved CNA course
- Graduate of a Maine State-approved Certified Medication Administration program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care fundamentals and resident-centered approach
- Medication administration and charting/documentation
- Comfortable administering oral, topical, vaginal, rectal medications and inhalation (puffs)
- Assisting with ADLs and supporting mobility
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Customer service mindset when interacting with residents and families
