Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends; variable 8/10/12-hour shifts (days/evenings). Typical night block example: Night 3x12-hour, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Call required Monday-Friday, 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Weekend coverage may include Saturday and Sunday shifts of 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM. (Day/night rotating coverage; holiday coverage as needed.)

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care during a wide range of surgical procedures
• Circulate in the operating room with focus on Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Spine and General Surgery
• Maintain accurate patient records and chart in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to optimize outcomes
• Support trauma-level care in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma 18-bed OR environment
• Participate in call, weekend and holiday coverage to ensure unit readiness
• Float to different units within the OSU organization as needed, bringing flexibility and teamwork
• Assist with robotic and laparoscopic cases and support specialty procedures when required

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (per facility/state requirements)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS/BCLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Comfortable circulating in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Spine and General Surgery
• Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, call and holiday coverage
• Ability to float to other units within the health system as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative patient care and surgical circulating skills
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• Trauma care and familiarity with Level 1 trauma protocols
• Experience with robotic and laparoscopic assisted procedures
• Comfort with a broad surgical case mix: ortho, neuro, spine, ENT, plastics, burns, urology, GYN, transplant and ophthalmology
• Strong communication, teamwork and critical thinking under pressure
• Sterile technique, patient safety practices and perioperative documentation
