Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform DEXA (bone density) scans accurately and compassionately for adult and geriatric patients
- Operate GE bone densitometry equipment and ensure image quality and proper patient positioning
- Apply radiation safety best practices and maintain compliance with facility protocols
- Document procedures and findings in Epic or the designated charting system in a timely manner
- Provide clear patient education about the exam, preparation, and follow-up recommendations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care
- Maintain equipment, complete routine QC checks, and report any issues promptly
- Lead charge responsibilities as assigned, ensuring smooth operations and communication
Qualifications
- Active ARRT certification and RT (R) credential through OBMI (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- DEXA (Bone Density) experience — must have hands-on DEXA technologist experience
- Previous charge experience (required)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience (1st-timers with the required credentials considered)
- Familiarity with Epic charting (preferred)
- Comfort working in adult outpatient settings and following infection prevention and isolation precautions
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in DEXA (Bone Density) procedures and positioning
- Strong radiation safety knowledge and adherence to protocols
- Infection prevention and correct use of PPE
- Experience with Epic electronic charting (preferred)
- Familiarity with GE imaging equipment
- Excellent patient communication and education skills
- Ability to manage charge duties and coordinate patient flow
