Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for general surgery patients in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to plan and execute surgical cases efficiently
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure OR instrumentation and equipment readiness for each procedure
• Participate in the rotating call schedule, responding to weekday, weekend, and possible holiday calls as required
• Document care accurately in Epic EMR and communicate patient status during handoffs and team briefings
• Support a positive patient experience by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the surgical journey

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) credential — current and in good standing
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of current/recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience
• Experience or comfort with call rotation (split between Call 1 and Call 2) and occasional holiday coverage
• Epic EMR proficiency preferred
• Robotic, neurosurgery, and orthopedics experience recommended (nice-to-have, not mandatory)

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating Room (OR) nursing and perioperative processes
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) proficiency
• BLS and ACLS application in perioperative/acute care settings
• General surgery case management and instrumentation familiarity
• Comfort working within a rotating call system and adapting to variable census/staffing
