Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously, responding to dysrhythmias with skill and confidence
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol while ensuring patient safety
- Deliver complex bedside care including tracheostomy management, non-invasive airway support (CPAP/BiPAP), and wound care/Wound VAC management
- Manage IV therapy, blood product administration, and insulin/heparin protocols with meticulous documentation in EPIC
- Participate actively on Rapid Response and Code teams, providing calm, competent critical interventions when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Radiology) to create patient-centered plans
- Provide clear patient and family education and handoffs that improve outcomes and continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, timely EPIC documentation and follow isolation/PPE precautions consistently
Qualifications
- Current RN license valid in Ohio (or compact state RN able to practice in Ohio)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience, with telemetry/PCU/stepdown or ER experience required
- BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS and PALS also required per facility
- Comfort and competence with cardiac/vasoactive drip management, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway support
- Experience with EPIC documentation preferred
- Ability to work night shifts and participate in rapid response/code events
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration and IV insulin/heparin protocols
- EPIC charting and thorough clinical documentation
- Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC) and basic ventilator/vented patient care knowledge
- Wound care/Wound VAC application and management
- Blood product administration and IV therapy skills including PICC/central/arterial line knowledge
- ABG interpretation and comfort with chest tube and CBI management
- Renal failure care and pre/post hemodialysis familiarity
- Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency response proficiency
