Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough speech and language evaluations to build individualized care plans
- Deliver evidence-based treatment for communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, therapists, and families to support holistic patient goals
- Document progress clearly and timely to ensure continuity of care and measurable outcomes
- Provide training and consultation to caregivers and staff to extend therapy gains beyond sessions
- Participate in team meetings and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and follow-up
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- Active SLP license in Maine or ability to obtain state licensure prior to the assignment
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Clinical experience working with adult and/or pediatric populations (rehab experience a plus)
- Strong documentation and time management skills in fast-paced settings
- Professional, patient-centered approach with excellent communication skills
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in standardized and functional assessment tools for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
- Skilled in designing individualized treatment plans and measuring outcomes
- Experience with dysphagia management and safe swallowing strategies
- Comfortable collaborating across disciplines and educating caregivers
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation
- Adaptable clinical reasoning to manage varied caseloads in a contracted setting
