Roles & Responsibilities
- Process, cut, stain and mount tissue specimens with accuracy to support diagnostic work
- Perform high-volume anatomic pathology testing while maintaining quality and timeliness
- Follow CLIA and CAP laboratory standards and maintain accurate documentation
- Participate in method evaluation and validation to improve lab workflows
- Maintain specimen handling and tracking to ensure sample integrity
- Assist pathologists and lab staff with troubleshooting and technical input
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Actively following or have completed an approved Histotechnician or Histotechnologist route
- ASCP, AMT or equivalent histotechnician/histotechnologist certification required
- Hands-on experience with tissue processing, microtomy and histology staining
- Familiarity with CLIA and CAP requirements and laboratory accreditation processes
- Comfort working in a high-volume lab environment with attention to detail
- Willingness to work occasional weekends as needed
Education
- Completion of or active progression through an approved Histotechnician/Histotechnologist program
- ASCP or AMT certification required or eligibility via approved route
Knowledge & Skills
- Tissue processing and specimen handling
- Microtomy and producing high-quality sections
- Histology staining techniques and slide mounting
- Anatomic pathology laboratory workflows and best practices
- Quality assurance and laboratory accreditation compliance
- Method validation and high-volume testing procedures
- Strong documentation and record keeping
