Shift Type: 3x12-hour Day shifts (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM), specific days vary; Day shift with every-other-weekend coverage; may float to similar-acuity units as needed

Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, family-centered postpartum care for birthing people and their newborns
- Perform thorough newborn assessments, monitor thermoregulation and manage newborn hypoglycemia when needed
- Start and maintain IVs, administer IV antibiotics, blood and blood products safely and accurately
- Interpret telemetry and be prepared to pass an EKG competency prior to start
- Administer and monitor medications including heparin, insulin drips, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate and oxytocin
- Deliver patient and family education: breastfeeding support, discharge teaching, circumcision care and newborn care instructions
- Recognize and manage postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension, escalating care appropriately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary supports—IV teams, PT, pharmacy, social services and rapid response teams—to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Ohio) required
- Minimum 2 years postpartum nursing experience
- BLS required; IV certification and demonstrated IV start competency required
- Experience with Labor & Delivery and couplet care
- EPIC charting experience required
- Telemetry interpretation skills and ability to pass an EKG exam prior to start
- NRP preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Postpartum assessment and procedures (fundus/lochia/perineum care, episiotomy care, Foley/ bladder assessment)
- Newborn care skills (cord care, metabolic screen, phototherapy, NAS care, thermoregulation)
- Medication administration and IV therapy, including starting/maintaining IVs and administering blood products
- Management of oxytocin (Pitocin), magnesium sulfate therapy, heparin and insulin drips
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- Breastfeeding instruction and use of electric/manual breast pumps
- Patient/family education and discharge teaching
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and float to related units
