Roles & Responsibilities

• Function as the Circulating RN in the Operating Room, coordinating patient care and team workflow
• Provide recovery nursing when needed, ensuring safe transfer and handoff from OR to PACU
• Support a variety of cases—primarily orthopedic, general, podiatry and cataract procedures
• Maintain situational awareness in a busy OR environment and anticipate team and patient needs
• Respond to call within the required 20-minute timeframe when on the shared call schedule
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to deliver high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure appropriate for practice in Wisconsin
• PALS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• Experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing and perioperative care, especially as a circulating RN
• Comfort providing recovery/PACU care as part of the role
• Ability to respond within a 20-minute timeframe when on call

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR safety practices
• Circulating RN workflows, sterile technique, and instrumentation basics
• Recovery nursing and postoperative monitoring
• Familiarity with orthopedic, general, podiatry and cataract surgical needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in small-hospital environments
• Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced surgical setting
