Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), typically 3 nights per week with every other weekend required; night (NOC) schedule with floating and on-call expectations
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, safe nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients with oncology history
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy/biotherapy (IV, PO, injection) following facility protocols
- Manage vascular access including central lines and PICCs, perform central line blood draws and peripheral line care
- Safely administer blood products and manage associated documentation
- Manage heparin and insulin drips and respond to changes in hemodynamic status
- Perform wound care including Wound VAC management and care for surgical drains and chest tubes
- Document care accurately in EPIC and use PYXIS for medication management
- Respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and emergencies with appropriate monitoring and interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV teams, PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Rapid Response) to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in monthly staff meetings, unit orientation, and required safety/storm team assignments
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) — seeking experienced Med/Surg RNs (explicitly hiring RNs)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience (HARD STOP) — oncology experience preferred or willingness to obtain ONC certification
- ONC certification required for travelers on this unit; facility can assist with oncology/chemo training if needed
- BLS required
- Must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed (certification/competency required)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Traveler experience: first-time travelers accepted
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Med/Surg and oncology clinical skills including chemo administration and monitoring
- Vascular access management: central/PICC line care, peripheral line care, port access
- Blood product administration and transfusion safety
- Experience with wound care and Wound VAC systems
- Familiarity with EPIC for documentation and PYXIS for medication dispensing
- Proficiency with SBAR communication and effective interdisciplinary handoffs
- Competency with heparin and insulin drip management and recognition of deteriorating patients
- Cardiac monitoring knowledge, EKG interpretation basics, and emergency response
