Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to emergency patients — assess, plan, intervene and evaluate with confidence
- Perform timely patient assessments and initiate appropriate emergency interventions
- Document care and patient progress thoroughly using EPIC
- Administer medications and perform EKGs per demonstrated competency and policy
- Collaborate with physicians, techs and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Safely assist and transport patients (with assistance when needed) and maintain patient dignity
- Maintain required certifications and participate in competency testing to ensure high-quality care
- Champion patient safety, infection control and compassionate communication with patients and families
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Rhode Island (required)
- Emergency Medicine experience (required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS and NIH Certification (required)
- EPIC experience required
- Current COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations (required)
- Completion of CNE Skills Checklist and CNE competency exams as part of onboarding
- Ability to lift/assist patients as needed and strong English language proficiency
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC proficiency for documentation and orders
- Strong patient assessment and triage skills
- Care planning, clinical intervention and evaluation expertise
- EKG competency and basic cardiac rhythms recognition
- Medication administration and pharmacology competency
- CPR/BLS/ACLS/PALS emergency resuscitation skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced emergency department and collaborating under pressure
- Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-centered care approach
