Shift Type: 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Night). Schedule days vary; every-other-weekend coverage required. May float to similar-acuity units as needed.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based postpartum nursing care to birthing parents and their newborns
- Assess, monitor and manage patients using telemetry interpretation and respond to changes in condition
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy, including starting IVs and administering blood and blood products safely
- Support breastfeeding and provide parent education on newborn care, discharge planning, and home safety
- Manage pain assessment and medication administration, including insulin drips and magnesium sulfate therapy when indicated
- Deliver newborn care skills such as metabolic screening, phototherapy management, cord care, and NAS support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, PT, social services, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
- Complete thorough documentation in EPIC and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (state-specific) — ready to practice in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience (explicit requirement)
- BLS required; IV certification and IV start skills required
- Experience with EPIC charting system required
- Telemetry interpretation skills; RN must be prepared to pass an EKG exam prior to start
- Experience in labor & delivery and couplet care strongly preferred
- NRP is preferred; previous travel nursing experience is a plus
- Comfort with administration of blood products, insulin drips, heparin, and common postpartum meds
Knowledge & Skills
- Postpartum care and newborn assessment (including hypoglycemia management and thermoregulation)
- Newborn procedures: phototherapy, metabolic screen, circumcision care education, cord care
- IV therapy, IV starts, and administration of blood & blood products
- Telemetry interpretation and basic EKG knowledge
- Pain assessment & management, including opioid administration and monitoring
- Familiarity with common postpartum complications (postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia management)
- Patient/family education and discharge teaching
- Experience working in Level 1 Nursery and postpartum settings; couplet care practices
