Shift Type: Days, 06:45 AM - 03:15 PM (8-hour day shift); call required — every other weekend (EOW) and variable weekday/night call as needed (typical weekday call 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM; typical weekend call 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM). Day and night call responsibilities make this a day plus on-call (day_night) role.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient perioperative support as a scrub or circulating surgical technologist in the operating room
• Operate and assist with the DaVinci Robot during robotic surgical procedures when required
• Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, sterile fields, and equipment for a high-volume suite
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, nursing leadership, and perioperative teams to ensure excellent patient care
• Respond to on-call calls within the required response time and support emergent cases as needed
• Document procedures and chart accurately in Cerner to maintain continuity of patient care
• Adapt to a union environment and support a positive team culture on and off the unit

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of operating room surgical technologist experience required
• Hands-on DaVinci Robot experience is mandatory
• Experience with Orthopedic and General Surgery cases strongly preferred
• Comfortable charting in Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and be flexible with scheduling
• Travel assignment experience preferred but not required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; BLS required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven competence in sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR protocols
• Experience with a broad case mix including ortho (total joints), general, podiatry, urology, gyn, vascular, spine, and plastics
• Familiarity with perioperative equipment and OR suite workflows
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with charge nurses and team leads
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing case volumes in an 8-suite, high-throughput environment
• Comfort with hospital policies in a union setting and ability to work collaboratively
