Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights). Schedule includes weekend coverage (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks), may include standby shifts and floating to Telemetry and other ICU floors.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, neuro-focused critical care to patients in a 32-bed Neuro ICU, maintaining 1:2 ratios when assigned
- Perform detailed neuro assessments and manage ICP monitoring and EVD care with confidence
- Manage ventilators and collaborate closely with respiratory therapy and pharmacy (24/7 coverage) to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain and demonstrate sterile field technique for procedures such as central line dressing changes and Foley insertions
- Complete SIMs Lab competency drills and apply learned procedures safely at bedside
- Float between ICU and Telemetry units as needed while safely managing variable patient loads
- Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and families
- Serve in charge or support roles as assigned, ensuring unit flow and patient safety
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (willing to obtain Arizona licensure; license-to-submit candidates considered)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) facility
- Required: Level 1 trauma experience and EVD (external ventricular drain) experience
- Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
- Comfortable with ventilator management and telemetry/Phillips monitoring
- Experience with Cerner EMR
- Travel experience of 3-6 months preferred
- Must pass facility-required assessments (DYS exam and SIMs Lab); note facility policies: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean shaven for fit testing
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle
Education
- RN license required (BSN not required; associate degree/diploma acceptable)
- Willingness to complete facility orientation and simulation-based competency testing
Knowledge & Skills
- Neuro ICU care and telemetry monitoring
- ICP monitoring and neuro-focused assessment
- EVD management and central line dressing change technique
- Ventilator management and collaboration with RT
- Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
- Sterile field maintenance and procedural competence
- Wound care, restraints, patient lifts and safe patient handling
- Ability to float across ICU and Telemetry units and adapt to variable patient assignments
