Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate acute hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis care in the dialysis suite and ICU
• Perform AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC access with precision and confidence
• Recognize and manage hemodialysis complications and emergencies promptly
• Titrate heparin and administer set-rate vasoactive drips according to protocols
• Collaborate with monitor techs and ICU staff for seamless telemetry and bedside central monitoring
• Precept and mentor colleagues as needed to support unit competency and patient safety
• Document accurately in MEDITECH and communicate care plans effectively across the team

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (eligible to practice in Texas)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (acute care/dialysis experience preferred)
• Demonstrated competency in acute care dialysis nursing (AVF/AVG cannulation, CVC care)
• Comfort working in ICU settings with vents, HiFlow, CPAP/BiPAP and central monitoring
• Ability to float between Bryan and College Station campuses as needed

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with MEDITECH charting system
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation experience
• Skilled in heparin titration and managing set-rate drips
• Strong assessment skills for ESRD and acute renal failure patients
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis initiation, termination and catheter care
• Familiarity with ventilator and respiratory support devices (ICU context)
• Ability to work 1:1 and 2:1 nurse:patient ratios in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable precepting and adapting to multi-campus float requirements
