Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, age-specific patient care using the Nursing Process and evidence-based ED practices
- Perform rapid assessment, triage, interventions, and reassessments for emergency presentations
- Lead and delegate tasks effectively to other team members to ensure smooth, safe patient flow
- Maintain and document nursing care according to Department and Specialty Standards of Patient Care
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and facility policies
- Keep required certifications current and follow a plan to renew any expiring credentials prior to start
- Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to support optimal outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state required for practice (verify with recruiter for compact options)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (TNCC plus PALS or ENPC as appropriate for the ED)
- De-escalation training or demonstrated competency in behavioral crisis management
- Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing or comparable acute care environment
- Competence in delegation, leadership, and clinical decision-making under pressure
- Willingness to maintain or renew required certifications prior to start
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment, triage and emergency clinical skills across age groups
- Familiarity with ED protocols, documentation standards, and specialty-specific standards of care
- Ability to lead, prioritize, and delegate in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing healthcare delivery
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family-centered care approach
