Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver direct, age-specific patient care using the Nursing Process and evidence-based ED practices
• Perform rapid assessment, triage, interventions, and reassessments for emergency presentations
• Lead and delegate tasks effectively to other team members to ensure smooth, safe patient flow
• Maintain and document nursing care according to Department and Specialty Standards of Patient Care
• Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and facility policies
• Keep required certifications current and follow a plan to renew any expiring credentials prior to start
• Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to support optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state required for practice (verify with recruiter for compact options)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (TNCC plus PALS or ENPC as appropriate for the ED)
• De-escalation training or demonstrated competency in behavioral crisis management
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing or comparable acute care environment
• Competence in delegation, leadership, and clinical decision-making under pressure
• Willingness to maintain or renew required certifications prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment, triage and emergency clinical skills across age groups
• Familiarity with ED protocols, documentation standards, and specialty-specific standards of care
• Ability to lead, prioritize, and delegate in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing healthcare delivery
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family-centered care approach
