Shift Type: Rotating 8-hour shifts including weekends: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (Day), 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM (Evening), 10:45 PM - 7:15 AM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night). Schedule includes call responsibilities (weekday call 4-8 times per 4-week schedule) and weekend call rotation that varies by shift (Day: one weekend of call every 6 weeks; Evening: every 4th weekend; Night: variable). Shift type: rotating (day/evening/night) with call.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care across CVOR and general OR cases, including trauma, ortho, general surgery and specialty procedures
• Manage 1:1 patient care and respond to call within the 30-minute response window
• Document accurately and efficiently using Cerner Surginet and other charting systems
• Perform charge nurse duties when assigned, coordinating cases, staffing and unit flow
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, OR techs and CSTs to ensure seamless case progression
• Support and mentor OR techs and newer staff during orientation and ongoing shifts
• Participate in emergency response and complex case management in the CVOR when requested
• Maintain infection control, instrument handling and perioperative safety standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit for this assignment)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience per posting; perioperative/OR experience strongly preferred
• 3-5 years perioperative or OR experience preferred for candidates who will scrub or work higher-acuity cases
• Comfort and experience with trauma, orthopedics (total joints), and general surgery required; CVOR/open-heart experience not required for all travelers but may be requested
• Ability to respond to call and work weekend rotations as outlined
• Scrubbing preferred but not required; CST familiarity and robotics experience are a plus
• Comfort working alone overnight with one tech when assigned to the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM shift

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and acute care nursing skills for OR and CVOR settings
• Experience with Cerner Surginet EMR and GE Space Labs telemetry systems
• Familiarity with trauma, orthopedics, general surgery and robotic cases (Da Vinci)
• Strong call management and crisis response skills
• Charge nurse abilities including coordination, delegation and unit flow management
• Excellent communication and teamwork in the OR environment
• Ability to maintain 1:1 patient ratios and prioritize patient safety under fast-paced conditions
