Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical-surgical telemetry nursing care to assigned patients
- Continuously monitor telemetry rhythms and promptly escalate concerns for abnormal findings
- Perform focused assessments and intervene to stabilize patients when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines to support staffing needs and continuity of care
- Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills validation to maintain clinical readiness
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely handoffs during shift changes
- Adhere to infection control, vaccination, and health screening requirements to keep patients and staff safe
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license with verification (RN license verification required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications as listed
- Experience or comfort with Medical-Surgical Telemetry and telemetry monitoring
- Willingness and ability to float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines
- Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Ability to complete required health screenings including fit test, drug screen, and immunizations
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical-Surgical Telemetry best practices and telemetry rhythm recognition
- Telemetry monitoring and timely escalation of abnormal rhythms
- Safe patient handling while floating across multiple units
- Clinical assessment, prioritization, and acute care interventions
- Familiarity with competency testing workflows and skills validation processes
