Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough preoperative patient assessments and prepare patients for surgery
- Provide safe and skilled intraoperative nursing care, maintaining sterile technique and supporting the surgical team
- Deliver clear postoperative care and education so patients can recover and return to daily life
- Address psychological and socio-cultural needs of patients and their support persons with compassion
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth procedures
- Document patient care accurately and contribute to quality improvement efforts
- Anticipate needs in the OR, manage supplies/equipment, and help maintain a safe environment
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to practice in Iowa (Compact license accepted where applicable)
- Previous perioperative or operating room experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CNOR or perioperative certification preferred
- Comfort with invasive procedures, sterile technique, and OR workflows
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide patient-centered education and support
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing). BSN preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative patient assessment and intraoperative nursing care
- Aseptic and sterile technique mastery
- Patient education and family/support person communication
- Team communication and coordination in fast-paced surgical settings
- Documentation in electronic health records and adherence to clinical protocols
- Ability to address socio-cultural and psychological patient needs with sensitivity
