Shift Type: Rotating night shifts (12-hour nights), 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, schedule varies with every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement; schedules posted about 3-4 weeks in advance

Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and manage critically ill patients in ICU and med-surg/telemetry areas with confidence
- Perform ventilator management including mechanical ventilation, NIV, HFNC and protocol-driven adjustments
- Obtain and interpret ABGs and EKGs to guide respiratory interventions
- Deliver evidence-based respiratory therapies: breathing treatments, IPV, PEP/PAP and more
- Follow and implement Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols in a strictly protocol-driven facility
- Collaborate with hospitalists, pharmacy, nursing and multidisciplinary teams for coordinated care
- Float to multiple areas (except NICU) to support patient needs across the hospital
- Serve as Charge RT when required and support unit staffing and communication during shifts
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — California state requirement (CRT not accepted)
- Minimum 2-5 years of critical care experience (travel experience required)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NRP and PALS required; NPS if seeking NICU assignments
- Experience with Cerner EMR (charting system at the facility)
- Proven competence with mechanical ventilation and respiratory protocols
- Ability to work every-other-weekend and most holidays as needed
- Willingness to float across units and adapt to changing assignments
Education
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) — California state requirement (CRT not accepted)
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management (Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo)
- Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Arterial blood gases (ABGs) interpretation and management
- Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols and protocol-based care
- Telemetry monitoring (GE) and EKG skills
- Critical care/ICU patient care, common diagnoses like COPD, asthma, PNA, CHF
- Cerner charting and electronic documentation
- Charge/lead responsibilities and teamwork in 24/7 RT coverage model
