Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough, age-appropriate initial and ongoing nursing assessments
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
- Administer medications accurately using the five rights and monitor patient responses
- Document patient care activities clearly and in accordance with hospital policy
- Complete discharge assessments and educate patients and families on follow-up care
- Communicate patient status and care plans effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in MDT meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
- Support quality improvement initiatives and report any quality or safety concerns
- Respond appropriately during emergency/disaster events and participate in preparedness drills
- Maintain a safe, well-stocked patient care environment and ensure equipment is functional
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Maine or compact license accepted
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Immunizations required: varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination accepted), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
- Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and assisting patients
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills
- BSN preferred
Education
- Current RN license (Maine or compact)
- BSN preferred

- Nursing assessment across age groups
- Medication administration and verification (five rights)
- Patient care documentation and care planning
- Discharge planning and patient/family education
- Infection control and immunization protocols
- Participation in multidisciplinary care and bedside rounding
- Emergency management and disaster preparedness
- Quality improvement processes and reporting
