Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, age-appropriate initial and ongoing nursing assessments
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
• Administer medications accurately using the five rights and monitor patient responses
• Document patient care activities clearly and in accordance with hospital policy
• Complete discharge assessments and educate patients and families on follow-up care
• Communicate patient status and care plans effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in MDT meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
• Support quality improvement initiatives and report any quality or safety concerns
• Respond appropriately during emergency/disaster events and participate in preparedness drills
• Maintain a safe, well-stocked patient care environment and ensure equipment is functional

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Maine or compact license accepted
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Immunizations required: varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination accepted), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
• Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and assisting patients
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills
• BSN preferred

Education

• Current RN license (Maine or compact)
• BSN preferred

• Discharge planning and patient/family education
• Infection control and immunization protocols
• Participation in multidisciplinary care and bedside rounding
