Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform blood bank testing including Type & Screens and related transfusion work with accuracy and care
• Run chemistry and hematology assays, review results, and ensure timely reporting
• Perform routine QC, correlations and basic instrument maintenance to keep analyzers running smoothly
• Operate and troubleshoot point-of-care and core lab equipment such as Abbott Alinity, XN2000, ACL TOPS and Clinitek UA
• Document all testing, QC and maintenance in the MEDITECH Expanse EMR with clear, compliant records
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to prioritize patient care and deliver actionable lab results
• Support microbiology tasks as needed (Gram staining, set ups, PCR testing) and float across lab areas
• Participate in weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities, responding promptly when needed

Qualifications

• MLS(ASCP) certification required
• Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience (blood bank, chemistry, hematology preferred)
• Comfortable working night shifts, rotating schedules, and floating across lab sections
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and teamwork mindset

Education

• MLS(ASCP) certification with Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Blood Bank and Type & Screens expertise
• Clinical Chemistry and Hematology testing knowledge
• Quality Control processes and basic instrument maintenance
• Familiarity with MEDITECH Expanse EMR
• Experience with analyzers: Abbott Alinity, XN2000, ACL TOPS, IH-READER, Clinitek UA
• Microbiology basics: Gram staining, set ups, PCR testing
• Ability to follow lab policies, safety procedures, and documentation standards
