Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered telemetry and medical-surgical nursing care at the bedside
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize/respond to arrhythmias and acute changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to policy and provider orders
• Perform thorough assessments and document findings clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and discharge plans
• Escalate urgent clinical changes and participate in emergency response when needed
• Maintain competency through required Trinity testing and skills checklists

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (must be eligible to practice in Iowa)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required as listed
• Telemetry and medical-surgical nursing experience (clinical competency expected)
• Ability and willingness to float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Must complete required health clearances: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations and TB testing, and any other facility onboarding health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Solid medical-surgical clinical assessment and critical thinking
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clear documentation
• Skilled in medication administration and IV/infusion management
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced settings
• Infection control practices and adherence to facility safety protocols
• Ability to adapt to floating between facilities and changing patient assignments
