Shift Type: Variable nights (unit-determined schedule), 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour nights; includes every-other weekend (night shift)

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the Stepdown/PCU unit
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms
- Administer and titrate IV medications and drips safely and per protocol
- Collaborate with CNAs, RTs, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform hourly rounding and bedside report to ensure continuity of care
- Manage admissions, discharges and transitions efficiently in a busy flow
- Float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as unit needs dictate
- Follow unit policies (including infection control and fingernail policy) and pass orientation competency checks
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for submission to CHI Health St. Francis
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Stepdown/PCU or similar preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Proven experience with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Comfortable titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips (heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, etc.)
- Experience charting in EPIC or similar electronic medical record
- Valid driver’s license at time of submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
- Ability to pass unit orientation competencies (90% pass threshold on open-book skills exam)
Education
- Active RN license required; specific degree not stated (ADN/BSN acceptable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- IV medication administration and titration
- Cardiac and respiratory patient management (STEMI, CHF, COPD, DKA, stroke)
- EPIC charting and electronic documentation workflow
- Familiarity with respiratory supports (BiPAP, Airvo) and collaboration with RT
- Strong communication, teamwork, and bedside report practices
- Charge nurse collaboration and basic charge duties awareness
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced admitting/discharging environment
