Roles & Responsibilities

• Process and validate electronic claims (EDI) accurately and efficiently to keep revenue flowing
• Troubleshoot EDI transmission issues and coordinate with clearinghouses and payers to resolve denials
• Analyze claim rejections, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce recurrence
• Collaborate with billing, coding, and provider relations teams to ensure clean claim submission
• Maintain documentation of workflows, exceptions, and resolution steps for audit readiness
• Generate and review regular reports on claim status, trends, and performance metrics
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, accuracy, and payer compliance

Qualifications

• Experience working with EDI claims formats and clearinghouse processes (X12 knowledge a plus)
• Familiarity with claims adjudication, payer edits, and common denial reasons
• Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage high-volume transactions
• Proficient with Excel and basic reporting tools; comfortable learning new claims systems
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional coordination with clinical and non-clinical teams
• Prior experience in medical billing, revenue cycle, or health information management preferred

Education

• Associate degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of EDI standards (X12, ANSI) and claims transmission workflows
• Knowledge of payer requirements, remittance advice, and ERA/835 processing
• Ability to interpret claim rejection codes and payer response messages
• Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and organizational skills
• Customer-service orientation when working with internal stakeholders and external payers
