Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care focused on spinal and neuro trauma patients
- Rapidly assess and triage trauma presentations including gunshot wounds, quadriplegia and paraplegia
- Collaborate with surgeons, therapists and the trauma team to coordinate patient treatment plans
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to support continuity and safety
- Monitor patients’ neurological status and implement timely interventions when changes occur
- Educate patients and families on care plans, recovery expectations and discharge needs
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and trauma case reviews to improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing (Nursys license verification required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in spinal/neuro trauma or related medical-surgical trauma specialty
- Proficiency with EPIC (EPIC required)
- Current resume/work history with no gaps greater than 60 days
- Completed skills checklist, references, and certification card required with application
- Badge-appropriate demographic photo and completed profile for credentialing
Education
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; relevant nursing degree (ADN/BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical skills in medical-surgical and trauma nursing
- Experience caring for quadriplegia and paraplegia patients
- Knowledge of spinal and neuro trauma surgical care and post-op management
- Comfortable using EPIC for charting, medication administration and care coordination
- Excellent critical thinking, prioritization and communication in high-acuity settings
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced trauma center
