Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver age-specific, direct patient care using the Nursing Process and department standards
- Assess patient conditions and implement evidence-based nursing interventions
- Provide emergency nursing care in a fast-paced ED environment with compassion and clinical skill
- Lead and delegate work to other team members while ensuring high standards of care
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and transitions
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal healthcare laws and facility policies
- Participate in clinical orientation and ensure required certifications are active or scheduled
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for practice in VT
- ACLS and BLS required and must be active prior to contract start date
- PALS or ENPC required (PALS or ENPC must be active prior to start; course may be booked at orientation if not currently active)
- De-escalation training required and must be active prior to contract start date
- Experience or skills in Emergency Department nursing and direct patient care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of the Nursing Process and specialty-specific standards of patient care
- Proficiency in emergency nursing assessments, triage, and interventions
- Skill in delegation, leadership, and team coordination
- Competence in age-specific care across the lifespan
- Effective communication, documentation, and clinical decision-making
- Comfort with de-escalation techniques and maintaining patient/staff safety
