Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC). Schedule includes nights across the week with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and holiday rotation; float coverage to other ICUs/Westgate as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-acuity, bedside cardiac and post-op ICU nursing care for CVICU patients
- Manage advanced support modalities including IABP, CRRT, ECMO and ventilator care as appropriate
- Perform and maintain sterile techniques for central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and telemetry, escalating to the team as needed
- Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy and multidisciplinary team for coordinated patient care
- Float to other ICUs and telemetry units when requested, maintaining safe patient ratios
- Participate in unit SIMs lab and competency validation on Day 1 of orientation
- Act as a resource at the bedside during high-acuity events and assist with procedures such as Swan monitoring and bedside bronchoscopy support
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure (able to submit license; willing to wait noted)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/CVICU or comparable critical care experience
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Mandatory Level I Trauma experience
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed) and Day 1 SIMs Lab competencies
- Strong IV skills — central line and Foley competence expected
- Ability to float to other units and care for varied cardiac/telemetry patient populations
- Travel requirements: must have own vehicle; appearance standards include natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
Education
- BSN not required
- Active RN license (state-specific) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac ICU/CVICU clinical expertise and post-op cardiac surgery recovery care
- Telemetry monitoring (Phillips) and dysrhythmia recognition
- Electronic charting with Cerner
- Advanced cardiac life support and critical care interventions (CRRT, IABP, ECMO familiarity preferred)
- Central line care, sterile-field maintenance, Foley insertion, and strong IV skills
- Comfort managing high-acuity bedside procedures and rapid changes in patient status
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork in a fast-paced ICU
