Roles & Responsibilities
- Collect and abstract cancer case data accurately and efficiently for the registry
- Maintain and update cancer registry records to ensure data integrity and compliance
- Validate data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure adherence to registry standards
- Collaborate with clinical teams to obtain necessary documentation and clarify diagnoses
- Prepare and submit required reports and support audit activities
- Monitor data quality metrics and implement corrective actions when needed
- Stay current with registry coding standards, reporting requirements, and best practices
Qualifications
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certificate required
- Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits) required
- One year of experience in a Cancer Registry required
- Two years experience using computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet use
- Strong attention to detail and familiarity with registry documentation and workflows
- Ability to work remotely while maintaining reliable internet access and secure records handling
Education
- Associate's degree (60 college-level credits) or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable using internet-based platforms and remote tools
- Knowledge of cancer registry processes and data abstraction
- Understanding of coding standards and registry reporting requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clinical teams
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
