Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule varies, typically includes every-other-weekend coverage

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical ventilation and troubleshoot ventilator issues to keep patients stable
- Assist with intubations, extubations, tracheostomy care and airway suctioning with precision
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and apply findings to optimize respiratory care
- Deliver and manage inhaled therapies and nebulizer treatments safely and effectively
- Monitor patients on BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC and high frequency oscillators and guide weaning plans
- Operate and maintain specific ventilators (Draeger, Servo I) used in the unit
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, nursing, pharmacy, PT) to deliver coordinated care
- Provide patient/family education on respiratory therapies and device use in a compassionate way
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (PICU experience is a hard requirement)
- Experience in Adult Critical Care, ED, Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatrics
- Comfortable floating to other campuses as needed
- First-time travelers are welcomed; prior Providence permanent employees must be separated from the system for at least 3 months to qualify
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced mechanical ventilation management and ventilator troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with Draeger and Servo I ventilators
- Proficiency with BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC and high frequency oscillators
- Airway management: intubation assist, extubation, tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and basic EKG skills
- Medication administration and familiarity with inhaled therapies and nebulizer systems
- Familiarity with pulmonary function testing (preferred) and aerosol delivery systems
- Ability to work across age groups (adolescents through geriatrics) and high-acuity settings
