Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights (specific clock-in/clock-out times not provided by employer). Weekend requirement: 3 shifts in a 4-week period (posting also references up to 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks). Guaranteed 36 hours/week. Night (NOC) assignment with rotating coverage and holiday staffing as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality telemetry and trauma-level nursing care to a mixed surgical/trauma/ortho patient population
- Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, acting quickly on dysrhythmias
- Perform sterile procedures such as central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion per facility standards
- Deliver post-operative care for transplant and Whipple patients with attention to detail and safety
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, SWAT IV team, and nursing aides to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and communicate care plans clearly during handoffs
- Participate in SIMs lab and competency validations to ensure clinical excellence
- Support unit needs by floating to observation, VMU, med-surg and tele units as required
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (able to submit license; employer willing to wait when indicated)
- Minimum 2 years telemetry experience (posting requires 2 years minimum tele experience)
- Mandatory Level 1 trauma experience (this is a must-have requirement)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia competency exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
- Willingness to complete and pass SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion & central line dressing change) on Day 1 of orientation where required
- Comfort with floating across med-surg and telemetry units and working 12-hour night shifts
- Travel assignment requirements: own vehicle for travel teams; facility-specific appearance rules apply (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing)
Education
- Active RN license required (state licensure appropriate to assignment)
- BSN not required (posting indicates BSN Required: No)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/competency
- Trauma and surgical nursing principles at a Level 1 trauma center
- Central line care/dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion with sterile technique
- Postoperative care for transplant, Whipple, spine and orthopedic joint patients
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
- Experience with Phillips telemetry and ventilatory support (BiPAP/CPAP)
- IV management, wound care, lifts and restraints protocols
- Strong situational awareness, triage skills, and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care setting
