Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in cardiovascular surgeries (CABG, valve procedures) with precision and confidence
• Actively participate in perioperative patient care and maintain OR flow in a fast-paced environment
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry to support surgical decision-making
• Collaborate closely with CSTs, anesthesiology, RT, pharmacy and the charge nurse for coordinated care
• Follow Cerner documentation standards to ensure accurate, timely charting
• Respond to call and extended-case needs professionally and reliably
• Support quality and safety by adhering to BLS and institutional protocols in the CVOR

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in California (license to submit required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years CVOR experience required (strong scrubbing skills and confidence in cardiac surgery required)
• Comfortable scrubbing and working in a busy cardiac OR with 4 suites and multiple daily cases
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips and work with telemetry
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR highly preferred
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Education

• Current RN license (state-specific as required)
• Nursing diploma or ADN/Associate degree acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing for cardiovascular surgery (CABG, valve procedures)
• Scrubbing technique and sterile field management
• EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Familiarity with ventilator management (not required, but helpful)
• Effective communication with CSTs, surgeons, charge nurse and multidisciplinary teams
• Cerner charting and EMR navigation
• Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume OR environment
