Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality medical-surgical care for adult patients while safely managing occasional pediatric cases
• Perform thorough patient assessments and create individualized care plans using sound clinical judgment
• Lead and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination across inpatient, outpatient, observation, and swing bed settings
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Use the Nursing Process to make timely decisions and prioritize patient safety during the night shift
• Provide compassionate, holistic care that addresses physiological, psychosocial, spiritual, and developmental needs
• Communicate effectively with Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, Nursing Supervisor, patients, and families to support care transitions

Qualifications

• Current Vermont RN licensure or valid multi-state (compact) RN licensure
• BLS (American Heart Association) required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred
• Flu vaccination required prior to assignment, no exceptions
• All required credentials must be uploaded five business days before the start date
• Not a pediatric-only role; candidates must be comfortable primarily with adult med/surg patients and occasional pediatrics

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing and acute care expertise
• Skilled in patient assessment, care coordination, and clinical decision-making
• Proficient documentation practices and charting
• Experience with outpatient, observation, and swing bed care
• Ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams
• Comfortable working with occasional pediatric patients alongside adult caseloads
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic health record is a plus
