Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and interpret patterns to support safe deliveries
• Perform timely neonatal resuscitation when needed and coordinate with neonatal teams
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly and accurately
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
• Support patients and families through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care with empathy and professionalism

Qualifications

• Current RN license (active and verifiable) for the state of Iowa
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• AWHONN and Fetal Heart Monitoring certification or documented competency
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screening (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Ability to pass Trinity 10-panel drug screen, fit test, and Trinity color vision check

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart monitoring interpretation and electronic fetal monitoring systems
• Neonatal resuscitation techniques and team coordination
• Labor support, maternal assessment, and postpartum care best practices
• Strong clinical judgment, triage, and rapid decision-making in obstetric scenarios
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Accurate charting and familiarity with unit competency testing processes
