Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to progressive care and post-op surgical trauma patients
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to ensure timely interventions
• Administer and manage IV medications and drips safely and accurately
• Perform frequent patient assessments (Q4 and as needed) and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate patient discharges and transitions
• Support the trauma and orthopedic populations with attentive post-operative care and mobility planning
• Document patient care in Meditech with clarity and timeliness to support continuity of care
• Serve as a team player on a Level 2 trauma unit — adapt quickly and support colleagues during high-acuity moments

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — able to practice in Texas (compact licensure accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of progressive care / acute care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (must-have)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (must-have)
• Proven customer service skills — patient- and family-centered care approach
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and IV medication/drip management
• Meditech experience is a plus
• Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) clinical skills and step-down care knowledge
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication and drip titration knowledge (Heparin, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Cardene, etc.)
• Strong assessment skills (vitals q4, neuro checks, respiratory assessment)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR workflows and documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
