Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care during night shifts
• Assess and monitor patients, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Document clinical care thoroughly and accurately in the Cerner EMR
• Administer treatments and medications safely; administer chemotherapy when Chemo Certification is held
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Perform or assist with unit procedures such as echo monitoring and thoracentesis as needed
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and follow-up
• Adhere to unit policies, infection control practices, and patient safety standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as listed)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo Certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Comfort working with med-surg and oncology patient populations
• Team player attitude and willingness to learn; ability to work scheduled weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and patient symptom management
• Chemotherapy administration protocols and safety (when certified)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR documentation
• Patient assessment, vital sign interpretation, and post-procedure monitoring
• Basic familiarity with procedures such as echo and thoracentesis
• Strong communication, delegation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage patient loads consistent with 1:4 to 1:5 ratios
