Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care in the operating room setting, ensuring safe airway and ventilation management during procedures
- Perform cardiopulmonary assessments and apply evidence-based respiratory techniques tailored to each patient
- Deliver age-appropriate care — including neonatal and pediatric patients when needed — with compassion and clinical precision
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
- Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment, maintaining strict safety and infection-control standards
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record
- Respond effectively to emergencies and code situations using ACLS, NRP, and PALS skills
Qualifications
- Current NBRC-RRT registration (required)
- Current Oregon Respiratory Care License (required)
- Healthcare Provider BLS (required)
- ACLS, NRP and PALS (required)
- Two (2) years clinical respiratory care experience preferred
- OR experience and familiarity with perioperative/operating room workflows preferred
- Willingness to work every-other-weekend as part of the team schedule
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong cardiopulmonary assessment and diagnostic skills
- Comfort with evidence-based respiratory therapy techniques and protocols
- Experience with neonatal and pediatric respiratory care (preferred)
- Proficiency with ventilator management and airway devices
- Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced OR environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate multidisciplinary care
