Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory patients and develop individualized treatment plans
• Operate and manage ventilators and other respiratory support equipment
• Administer respiratory therapies and monitor patient response
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results
• Collaborate with nurses and physicians to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, home equipment, and prevention
• Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department best practices

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in New Hampshire or eligibility to obtain one
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience as an RT preferred; new grads with strong clinical training encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to handle urgent/critical respiratory situations calmly and effectively

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited Respiratory Care program
• Completion of clinical training required for licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Proficiency with oxygen therapy, nebulizers, and airway management
• Ability to perform and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Familiarity with pulmonary function testing and respiratory diagnostics
• Patient assessment, infection control, and documentation best practices
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and charting
