Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident changes, communicating concerns to nursing staff promptly
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance, ensuring nutrition and hydration needs are met
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families, offering warmth, patience and clear communication
- Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and contribute to excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
- Experience working with geriatric or long-term care residents is preferred
- Comfortable working the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM evening shift (Shift 2)
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Current CPR/BLS preferred or willing to obtain if required by facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric patient needs and age-related conditions
- Ability to assist with ADLs and safe patient transfers
- Basic vital sign measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with following care plans and reporting changes
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
