Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Assist the PT with patient evaluations and implement individualized treatment plans
- Document treatment sessions accurately and promptly in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and progress expectations
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the rehab team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Ensure therapy equipment is safe, clean, and well-maintained
- Contribute to discharge planning and provide clear handoffs to the next care team
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Maryland or eligible for Maryland licensure
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Previous experience in inpatient rehab or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
Education
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, and gait training
- Skilled in patient assessment, progress documentation, and outcome measures
- Familiarity with safety protocols, patient handling, and infection control
- Comfortable using electronic medical records for timely documentation
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
