Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Take and accurately record vital signs and monitor resident condition; promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Provide compassionate emotional support and build trusting relationships with residents and families
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in charts and care logs to ensure continuity of care
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility procedures to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (or equivalent) in New Mexico, or ability to obtain/transfer state certification
- Active listing on the New Mexico CNA registry or eligibility to enroll
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
- Preferably 1+ year of direct patient care experience in long-term care or rehab settings
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and resident personal care
- Knowledge of basic infection control practices and safety procedures
- Comfortable with taking and documenting vital signs and observations
- Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time during long shifts, and remain calm under pressure
- Team-player attitude and respectful bedside manner
