Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose communication and swallowing disorders, then design individualized treatment plans that make a real difference
- Deliver evidence-based SLP interventions and adjust therapy based on patient progress
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and families to coordinate holistic care
- Document care accurately and promptly in the medical record to meet facility and regulatory standards
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers to promote carryover and functional outcomes
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and share best practices with the team
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- Valid New Mexico SLP license or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Clinical experience in medical, rehab, or skilled nursing settings preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in evaluation and treatment planning for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
- Skilled in dysphagia management and safe swallowing techniques
- Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams in an inpatient/rehab environment
- Proficient with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
- Time management and caseload prioritization to deliver excellent patient outcomes
